Peter Norvig and the Game of Set

Peter Norvig digs deeply into the game of Set, which I've never played, but enjoy reading about. In my group of gamers, there is one other besides myself who is this sort of gamer, and 4 who are not, so by majority rule, this is not our sort of game. :)

Still, it's a beautiful game, and the mathematics are fun.

Make sure you find your way to Gregory Quenell's presentation. Money quote:

We can't draw a hypercube in a 4-torus.

  1. My oldest daughter Linnea would be a champion Set player, if there were championships. Around my house, she just clobbers everyone.

  2. One of the most interesting things about Set is that the best players often seem to be non-gamers. Some visually gifted people seem to be very good at spotting patterns.
